Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
Kalam was born in a large joint Tamil Muslim family in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, India on 15th October 1931. His life story itself is a great motivation for all sorts of people and mainly youngsters.
Kalam was very hardworking even in his childhood days. When he was just ten, he used to get up at 4 in the morning to go for mathematics tuition. After the class he used to go for Namaz and Koran Sharif learning with his father. Then he had to go the Rameswaram road railway station which is around 3 km away from his home to collect newspaper and to distribute it. This way Kalam could supplement to his family income. All this was when he was studying in 5th standard!
Later Part of Kalam’s Life
Kalam graduated in Aerospace Engineering in Madras Institute of Technology and then joined in the elite Indian DRDO. Later he started working in ISRO.
Kalam is said to be the brain of India’s missile program. He witnessed India’s first nuclear test conducted at Pokhran in Rajasthan in 1974. He contributed greatly to the Indian missile program and thus known as the missile man of India.
Kalam died due to a cardiac arrest on 27 July 2015. He collapsed while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong and died from an apparent cardiac arrest.
